An Homage to Gianni Versace.

I acquired this Versace tie just before his death in 97’.

I was about two blocks away eating brunch when he was tragically shot by Andrew Cuban. It was quite scary, be once sirens were heard, we walked over to find out what was going on. (People spoke to each other prior to phone screen addiction, so news spread slower.)

Ironically, I happened to work in a luxury hotel that was across the street from where Andrew C. had been hiding out in a boat. I remember helicopters and loud amplified cops telling him what to do before he shot himself but I didn’t hear the gunshot. I lived and worked on South Beach, just a few blocks from the Versace mansion (Casa Casuarina) and everyone was on edge that week.

The second tie belonged to my father circa 1975.
Photography and digital detail work as homage to Gianni Versace and the Baroque designs the house of Versace made famous. The designer of the second fabric on a tie has likely been forgotten as it was made in the early 1970s.
